After one of the most miserably cold and snowy winters we can remember in recent history, we're finally getting an early taste of spring and summer- even a couple of weeks before spring officially turns up on the calendar. The good news for us here at Smoky Mountain Ziplines is that we can finally start getting back to a regular seasonal schedule – that is, as long as the rain decides to give us a break.
Whether you've ever ziplined before or not, we wanted to spend some time this week telling you a little about ourselves and what we have to offer here in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
One of our biggest advantages is that we offer a whole lot of zipline fun - a total of nine lines on our canopy tour. They start out fairly short and easy, so we can teach beginners the proper way to launch, coast and land. But by the time you get to the end of the canopy tour, the lines get gradually longer, giving you some majestic views of the surrounding foothills scenery.
Those who complete a canopy tour may choose to add on our Super Zip package, where you can ride two SuperZip lines, which are some of the longest and fastest lines in the area. It's pure speed and adrenaline as you go roaring down these super long lines.
We also offer a complete zipline experience. It starts at our outpost, where our staff will get you outfitted with properly fitting safety gear – everything you'll need, from helmets to harnesses to safety gloves. From there, you'll ride on one of our 6X6 trucks to the top of the mountain, where you'll go through some basic instruction and safety training.
Our expert guides will show you the correct way to launch yourself from a zipline platform, how to steer yourself while you're riding the zipline and how to slow down and land at the other end. And each tour group includes two guides - one to zip ahead and assist you with your landing and one who stays behind to get everyone launched safely.
And as we mentioned earlier, you'll start off on some of the easier lines and work your way up to the bigger ones. Along the way, you'll experience some great views and speeds as fast as 40 miles per hour. Also, you won't have to do too much hiking in between lines. Generally, you'll enjoy short walks from the end of one line to the beginning of another. Depending on the package you book, your tour can add up to several hours of fun and adventure.
Another advantage to visiting our attraction - as opposed to ziplining in Sevierville, TN or Gatlinburg, TN - is the great value we offer. For one price, you get to experience as many as 11 ziplines at one location, and you benefit from having safety-conscious guides teaching you and leading the way. We generally offer a number of discounts on our packages, ranging from a $5 coupon on our brochure to discounts for active military personnel and their families to $5 discounts for seniors age 65 and older. We have special group rates as well. And last but not least, our location is extremely convenient to anyone visiting the Pigeon Forge, TN area. We're located only two miles off the Parkway at the south end of town. So whether you're staying in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, finding us is easy, and we offer plenty of parking on site.
